Wooden spoonÂ
- 8 oz ELBOW MACARONI
- 1 cup WHOLE MILK
- 1/2 cup HEAVY CREAM
- 1/2 cup AMERICAN CHEESE
- 1 cup SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE
- 2 tbsp UNSALTED BUTTER
- 1/2 tsp SALT
- 1/4 tsp BLACK PEPPER
Boil water in a large pot. Add a pinch of salt to the water. Cook elbow macaroni until tender. Drain noodles using a colander. Set the cooked pasta aside.
Place your saucepan on medium heat. Melt the butter completely in the pan. Do not let the butter burn. Keep the stove heat steady.
Pour whole milk into the melted butter. Add heavy cream to the pan now. Whisk the mixture until warm and smooth. Let it warm up slowly.
Reduce heat to low temperature. Add shredded cheddar and American cheese. Stir constantly with a whisk. Watch the cheese melt into cream.
Season sauce with salt and pepper. Taste and add more spice if needed. Stir well to combine all seasonings. Keep the flame low.
Fold cooked macaroni into warm cheese sauce. Mix well until noodles are coated. Serve hot in bowls immediately. Enjoy your meal!
- Shred fresh cheese blocks because pre-shredded cheese does not melt as smoothly.
- Do not overcook your pasta or it will become mushy in sauce.
- Keep heat low when melting cheese to prevent the sauce from separating.
- Use whole milk for the richest and creamy restaurant style flavor outcome.
- Serve the dish immediately while the cheesy sauce is hot and smooth.
